For Immediate Release – Sydney
The alliance combines private 5G spectrum, Nokia-powered infrastructure, secure satellite backhaul and SOCI-accredited sovereign data centres, delivering end-to-end data sovereignty across critical industries for the first time as a fully managed service.
SUMMARY
URSYS, Australia’s specialist in sovereign remote connectivity for critical industries, has formalised an equity-based strategic partnership with CID Group, a private infrastructure group controlling one of the largest concentrations of licensed terrestrial spectrum in the southern hemisphere. Together, the two organisations have launched a fully integrated Data Sovereign Logistics Framework – a chain of custody for data, video and AI workloads that is private by design, sovereign by architecture and delivered entirely as a managed service.
This is not a reseller arrangement. URSYS holds four distinct participation points in the partnership – as authorised reseller, sole-supplier product provider for rapid-deployment connectivity assets, sole-supplier support organisation for the control plane and as an equity stakeholder in CID Group, creating deep structural alignment between both organisations and their clients.
MARKET SECTORS
The partnership is built for operators and asset owners in sectors where data sovereignty is a regulatory, operational or national security requirement.
The combined capability is immediately relevant to:
| Aviation & Airports - active in every state | Port Logistics - significant multi-state coverage |
| CBD assets - Security Cameras, Access Control Systems, Sensers, Emergency Warning Systems etc. | Smart City & First Response |
| Mining & Minerals – remote and brownfield assets | Energy & Utilities - pipeline, generation, grid assets |
| Council & Entertainment Precincts - racetracks and venues | Logistics, Construction & Industrial Operations |
SOVEREIGN DATA LOGISTICS FRAMEWORK
Australia’s critical infrastructure sectors face a growing convergence of cyber risk, regulatory obligation and operational exposure. Existing connectivity architectures – built on public internet paths, shared infrastructure and offshore data handling – are inadequate for operators handling sensitive SCADA, surveillance, or AI workloads.
The URSYS x CID framework eliminates these exposures across three integrated layers:
First Mile
Intelligent Edge
Data processed on-site via private spectrum and industrial-grade platforms. Sovereignty begins at the source.
Middle Mile
Secure Backhaul
Private enterprise backbone – fibre, NaaS and satellite – bypasses the public internet entirely.
Last Mile
Sovereign Core
Data processed in fully sovereign, SOCI-accredited data centres – the highest assurance tier for critical infrastructure.
The result is a complete, auditable chain of custody for data, from the field device to the sovereign data centre, without a single public internet hop. Delivered on an OpEx consumption model, it converts what was previously a multi-million-dollar CapEx infrastructure programme into a predictable, scalable managed service.
"The partnership between URSYS and CID allows the 30+ years of experience that URSYS has in deploying and supporting remote connectivity in Australia to join with the cutting edge 5G solutions that CID provides. This will allow Australian businesses to benefit from the latest technologies in a 100% OpEx commercial model"
– Bart Bunting | Managing Director for URSYS
MARKET ACCEPTANCE
The partnership has been operational since August 2025. Joint projects across multiple verticals are underway, with several significant deployments in active development. URSYS and CID Group are now engaging with operators in mining, energy, aviation and local government who require sovereign connectivity solutions that meet the highest levels of Australian critical infrastructure assurance.
Organisations seeking to understand whether their current connectivity architecture meets sovereign data obligations – or to explore what a consumption-based, end-to-end sovereign solution looks like for their assets – are invited to open a conversation with the URSYS team.
